Hi {{first_name|nurse,}}

As we wrap up an incredibly busy February, I wanted to take a moment to look at the massive shifts happening in the nursing world. From the picket lines in SoCal to new federal laws, the landscape of how you're supported—and paid—is moving fast. Here is what you need to know as we head into March.

The "February Surge" in California

It’s been a historic month for labor action. We are seeing thousands of our colleagues standing up for better staffing and transparency—two things we care about deeply here at Map My Pay.

● Kaiser Permanente: The strike involving 31,000 workers is now entering its fifth week. It is the largest of its kind, and the focus remains on safe staffing.

● LA Mega-Strike: Nurses at USC Keck, Norris Cancer Center, and Centinela are currently on the picket lines (Feb 19-26).

These aren't just about wages; they are about the moral injury caused by chronic short-staffing.

National Policy: Staffing Mandate Repeal

On the federal side, CMS officially repealed the federal nursing home staffing mandate on February 2. While some call it "flexibility," we know it adds pressure to the floor.

Whether it’s the new AB 692 in California banning "Stay-or-Pay" contracts or the ongoing strikes, the message is clear: the industry is being forced to prioritize the workforce.

Stay safe out there.

Best,
Jason
